With its bustling plaza, meandering streets, and quiet neighborhoods, the Lake Anne area shows why Reston is consistently rated as a top place to live in Northern Virginia. The area offers a variety of homes with rich architectural style and detail. From colonial-style townhomes to contemporary single-family homes, Lake Anne is a unique place for people to live, work, and play.
The Lake Anne Plaza, an internationally renowned planned community founded in 1964, was the first area built in Reston. Lake Anne is home to the Reston Historic Trust Museum and the Reston Community Center’s Lake Anne Annex. The community center provides classes and programs throughout the year.
Lake Anne Plaza was recently listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Plaza has lots of local shops, restaurants, and service businesses. Throughout the summer, you can catch free concerts and movies, or visit the bustling Reston Farmer’s Market on Saturday mornings. One thing you won’t find in Lake Anne: big box stores. Lake Anne is a local business-only area, so you’ll have to go to nearby Reston Town Center to find chain stores.
Lake Anne is home to the Hidden Creek Country Club, which features the award-winning Ed Ault Signature Golf Course. The facility also has swimming, tennis courts, a private fitness center, and a clubhouse. The Reston Museum & Shop offers annual public events, such as the Home Tour and the Founder's Day, along with walking tours and children's art workshops.
The Lake Anne Area also features the Lake Anne Elementary School, and, of course, the man-made Lake Anne. And if you take a walk along the Reston Association pathways, you may well see Reston founder Bob Simon on one of his regular walks.
