Are you curious about what Reston is all about? If you're new to the area, you may not know what a historic achievement the development and creation of Reston was. The fact is, what Robert Simon did here was nothing short of remarkable, and set a trend in "place making." Reston is the first (and in my opinion the best) continuing and successful planned community in the United States.
Simon began developing the 7,000 acres in Northern Virginia in 1964. Today, our community has grown to 60,000 residents. Most importantly, Simon's vision of people living, working, and playing together has become a well-studied hallmark of urban planning.
Presented by the Reston Museum, this video provides a short introduction to the history of Reston, VA. Enjoy!
